This half term our topic is Celebrations. We have started to learn about different festivals and celebrations that people enjoy all over the world.
In Literacy lessons we have learnt about Guy Fawkes and the story of the Gunpowder Plot and Rama and Sita and the story of Diwali. We have used masks to retell the stories, used pictures to create vocabulary sheets and started to write key words with the support of our teachers. Next we will learn about the story Kipper’s birthday before learning about Chinese New Year and the Nativity story.
In Maths lessons we have learning to name and talk about the properties of both 2d and 3d shapes. We have been on a shape hunt around our outside area and have made beautiful fireworks pictures using giant 2d shapes. Next we will move on to sorting items by colour, size and amount.
During our outside learning we have explored lots of new activities. We have enjoyed being creative at the writing table, mixing colours at the painting station and exploring the investigation station.
We are learning lots of new skills during our independent learning each day and are all remembering to show the Germander Park values each day.
