Red Kites visit Whipsnade Zoo

For our last school trip as Red Kites class, Year 1 went on a very exciting trip – to Whipsnade Zoo!  We had been counting the days for weeks and were extremely excited when the big day finally came.  As soon as we arrived, a wallaby jumped across the path right in front of us.  We saw lots of wild animals such as lions, flamingos and meerkats.  Fascinating facts we found out included how many times a day an elephant poos and how long giraffes sleep for.  We discovered that the tigers were in their hut because they wanted quiet to have their babies – we saw the little cubs on the zoo website the very next day though!  We had so much fun becoming wild animal experts to inspire our learning back in the classroom.
