Year 1 visit to Bletchley Park

Penguins and Puffins find out about the secret codebreakers.

On Tuesday Year 1 children visited Bletchley Park. The visit was designed to ignite the children's interest in history in particular the life of Alan Turing. The children found out how important Bletchley Park was during World War Two and how codes were used to keep information safe and how code breakers were needed to break the codes.

The Bombe Machine and Enigma machine were very interesting, children discovered how the machines worked to both write codes and to solve them.

Back at school children will learn more about famous people, how to build timelines how to compare old and new objects. The most exciting part will be writing our own coded messages.
